Now, we have made up mind to make a new concert with greek composers.
So We want to play the ANTIGONE : Ballet Music Arrangement for two pianos (1959)

How do I get the score?
Please tell me the publisher of the score.
We already have got the score OF PASSACAILLES.

Dear webmaster. I would like to express my wish that the lyrics at least of the more complex works of Mr. Theodorakis (Axion Esti, Canto General etc.) be available for download. You see, the size of the CDs does not allow the font to be big enough, and unfortunately not everybody has good enough eyesight. I understand that there may be legal obstacles, but obstacles are to be overcome. For many of those of us who live away from Greece, the music of Mr. Theodorakis is a major link to the motherland, for which we are grateful.

Dear Eustace Frilingos,
I know that it would be important to have the texts of the great metasymphonic works and oratorios of Mikis Theodorakis on the homepage. But: In what language? With what translations? And, honestly, who gives us the rights? We have also to respect the authors and their editors. Don't you agree?

I have know Mr. Theodorakis music since the late 70is. I especially love one particular LP, which his office is now trying to help me locate and I don't recall the title, nor do I know if it was ever copied onto CD.

If not, I'll still have his music in my heart.. .

Good blessed you with a wonderful gift, Mr. Theodorakis. Being able to write the kind of music that you have and making so many people around the world happy when listening is extraordinary.

I wish that you'd have many more years to enjoy.

Your music still inspires me especially the new album "Odysssia" that has just been released with the divine voice of Maria Farantouri. I am still collecting all her albums slowly but surely. You have visited many countries in your years but I have not known if you have ever visited Johannesburg South Africa. I think it will a good revival to the Greek nation in this country.

We are big fans of your classical music, and would be honoured to use it in our movie and consider it the best possible variant.
Please, inform us whom we should contact as regards this question.

Stop the War Machine; Demilitarize the World!
cindy smith 03.04.2007 17:10
In his moving antiwar speech Mr. Theodorakis said:

“In the face of this terrifying prospect for humanity, the question is: What are we, the ordinary citizens, to do? Are we to kneel down before Mr. Bush and say: 'Slaughter us, master'? As blood-offerings?”

Blood offerings, indeed! The Merchants of Mass Murder only profit by killing our children!

War is a Racket!

In the words of a USMC General, war is the oldest, the most profitable and the most vicious racket—one in which the profits are measured in dollars and the losses in body bags.

To stop the war racketeers profiting from wars and to void their ‘license to mass murder,’ we the undersigned call on you, the world community, parents, writers, poets, artists, farmers, workers, academics, professionals and all other concerned individuals to rise up and take a stand against the insanity of militarism forced on your community.

Take control of your destiny. Help bring about an end to the manufacture and sales of weapons in your country and the world. Redirect your national income from feeding the war machine to provide food, shelter, health, education and harmony for all.

Remember: Without your consent, explicit or implied, the Merchants of Mass Murder cease profiting from killing our children!

A petition against global militarism led by the so-called Military-Industrial Complex in the United States is posted at the following URL. Please take a few moments to endorse the Petition, forward widely and post on your networks/forums.

The one behind the Greek music
Sophia Chaniotakos 28.03.2007 09:25
It is an honour to listen to Mikis Theodorakis. I am from South Africa but my origins are from Greece. What magic this brilliant man has created in the history of Greek music. To me the word brilliant is not sufficient. I am a young woman listening to the old songs. It is what I gre up with. Til to this day I am still making the effort to collect all available original cd's with Mikis Thoeodorakis, especially with the singer Ms. Maria Farantouri (the divine). Mr. Mikis Theoodorakis you are an inspiration to the Greek nation. Keep the music alive.
Not many people now adays listen to this especially the younger generation. To me I believe that for me to understand the new songs I must first understand the old songs. It is only through Theodorakis music will I be able to achieve that goal.

Keep your magic hands up to continue the magic you have in you.

With love and regards,
Sophia Chaniotakos

The Landespolizeiorchester NRW will collaborate with the ensemble Rembetik. On in a concert of music by Mikis Theodorakis. Scott Lawton will conduct. Perhaps this would be a great opportunity for the people of the region of Rhein-Ruhr-Gebiet to come together. The concert is in the Dietrich Keuning Haus, Leopoldstr. 50-58, 44147 Dortmund at 20h. The dance ensembles Apollon and Xeniteas will also perform.

What a shame that Greek doesn't work on this site. It seems an insult to write in anything other than Greek. I would like to share two of K. Theodorakis' pieces of music with others, through my site, but cannot find where to obtain permission. Full credit will be given for the music. I would particularly like to be able to play,'Zorbas' and especially 'Ena To Helidoni'. What a composer! The best! Thank you for adding so much to so many lives, so much hope. Olga from Crete

For more years than I can remember now, I have listened to your music, and every time I listen, it is like the first time. Your music is timeless, it is both ancient and modern. I join the hundreds of people who have left messages here for you in congratulating you on a lifetime of musical creation. I have only one small request: is it still possible to obtain the *original* recording from the early 1970s of "Dekaoxto lianotragouda tis pikris patridas"? If so, I would be grateful to know how to obtain it. It is one of my very favorites, as it was based on the incomparable poetry of Ritsos.

Thank you again for all you have done. You remain in all our hearts, the very best of humanity.

Dear Mr Theodorakis,
We are living in Belgium, but since 1994 we are visiting Greece each year.
When we are not in Greece, we are enjoying your beautiful sounds and songs. Everytime we need some optimistic feelings, we are listening your music, and a lot of deep happiness comes to us.
Music as you made it, with the real greek soul and feelings, is the best export product of Greece. Your musical spirit is forever, like the endless view on the sea.
Thank you very much for the warm music you gave us.

I don't want to waste anyone's time by descripting my feelings about his music. because I know every one have such fillings. so I start to tell my troubles inside my counrty to find and listen to my favorite songs.
I live in Iran. we don't have any music store (I mean a real one) in here. soo we can not find music and buy them simply. so almost every one in here, try to download or get a copy of his loved music here. there is no other way, even if they have very low quality.
I almost surfed every website that included Mikis' name to find his unique STATE OF SIEGE soundtrack. I suppose no one will believe how much searched for it, specialy for PAOLA.
now after months of seeking, hopelessly I beg you to put this track on the site for download.
this is my last chance to hear the music I love so much.

Dear Mr. Theodorakis,
I am a hobby-singer at the Music School of Cologne and will have the pleasure to sing your song "Zusammenleben - To Perigali" which Milva made popular in my country at the next presentation of my class. That is on December 13. What really fascinates me about your music is that it is apparently based on a folktune and at first seems easy to sing along. But on working with it I began to realize what a challenge the interpretation is and that a singer must give her full heart and personality into it. With every rehearsal I was getting more involved into your song, and I wish to thank you for the great inspiration you give people all around the world.
Best wishes from Germany

what is it about this song? it's become my candidate for the most beautiful song ever written.

my greek scholarship is rather elementary, and i have a question. seferis uses "we" in this song, which is apparently a song about an unrequited infatuation--and the need to go on with life and change ourselves. "we are thirsty", "we write her name in the sand", "we live our life--a mistake, and so we must change our life".

is this merely the poetic "we"--or am i missing something?

We want to perform some of your works- and
put it together as a little cabaret of Mikis-songs.

We will start working with this now- and hopefully we
will have something to present in the Spring 2006.
